A New Method of Solving Complex Variational Problems: Broaching on a Supporting Ring and with a Hollow Broach

Formulas are obtained for broaching on a supporting ring and with a hollow broach. Broaching on a supporting ring is used to obtain a hole in a single pass (Fig. 1). In broach motion, the central part of the blank is pushed into the hole in the ring until it has been completely removed. Obviously, the metal waste will be greater in this case than in regular broaching.
