OUTSIDER ART FROM JAPAN

摘要

Outsider Art is the semantically loaded term for 'works created by self-taught artists perceived to be at the margins of society'. Aware perhaps of the oxymoron of wanting audiences to judge works on merit, while simultaneously decreasing that ability by emphasising the Outsider tag, the organisers of the exhibition Souzou: Outsider Art from Japan curtail information on the '46 self-taught artists living and working within social welfare facilities across Japan'.
