Natural rubber prices are likely to rule high on spurt in demand, says T.V. Alexander, the outgoing UPASI President. Addressing the 117th annual conference of the association at Coonoor on September 14, he said the outlook for natural rubber is dependent on multifarious factors such as demand and supply, economic growth, price of crude oil, trends in future trade, value of currency and climatic changes. The price increase is expected to continue as there are reports that market arrivals are limited, especially due to the 'wintering season' of rubber trees. Demand growth is predicted to rise owing to the strong recovery of the automobile and tyre-manufacturing industries in the European Union, India and China.
