Grand finale to APT 2008 conference

Great attention has to be given to the recycling of rubber and plastic waste heaps that are posing great threat to the environment. What is needed is to upgrade the technology that can recycle and reprocess these wastes and convert them in to useful materials, according to Sajen Peter, the Rubber Board Chairman. Inaugurating the three-day International Conference on Advances in Polymer Technology (APT 2008) organised jointly by the Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and the Kerala Branch of the Indian Rubber Institute (IRI) in Kochi recently, he said work in this direction has to be taken up on a time-bound basis.
