The use of cesium dibenzyl and diphenyl phosphates for stereoselective syntesis of glycosyl phosphate derivatives

Peracetates of #beta#-glycosyl dibenzyl phosphates are formed eficiently in the reaction of cesium dibenzyl phosphate with peracetyl-#alpha#-glycosyl nitrates derived from L-fucopyranose, D-galactopyranose, and 2-azido-2-deoxy-D-galactopyranose or with tri-O-acetyl-#alpha#-L-fucopyranosyl bromide. On the contrary, the reaction of the above-mentioned glycosyl nitrates with cesium diphenyl phosphate leads to thermodynamically more stable #alpha#-glycosyl diphenyl phosphate via intermediate formation of the corresponding #beta#-anomers.
