Recovery to quicken in 2003, NAM says

U.S. manufacturing's recovery from the 2000 recession will be slow and gradual this year, but likely will accelerate in 2003, according to the National Association of Manufacturers. The current U.S. manufacturing profile has two faces, said Fred Nichols, NAM vice president of government affairs and political director: one as a "productivity powerhouse," and one as a sector in a serious cyclical slump, with global risk involved.
