CADILLAC STS V-6: One for the Road; One for the Track

THE BASE ENGINE IN THE RESTYLED 2008 Cadillac STS is a direct-injected V-6 with 302 bhp, up 47 ponies from the previous V-6, also a 3.6-liter. As you might expect, the new clean-burning powerplant feels like a reasonably powerful V-8. But it's not quite a substitute, as the base STS is still about a half-second slower to 60 mph than its Northstar V-8-powered brother.
