« Jet vapor deposition », a novel vacuum coating technique with superior properties

JVD is a dry coating technology making use of induction heating in closed crucibles and jet deposition of the metallic vapors produced. The features of the process are indicated and different models related to its application are presented. The theoretical predictions are compared to actual measurements, in particular for metal yield and expected line speed. Examples of coatings produced by this technique are illustrated.
