Production and use of tailored welded blanks in the automotive industry

Among the available solutions to reduce the weight of vehiclesand cut costs, the use of butt-welded blanks has been developed in Europe, theUnited States and Japan since the 80's. Laser welding, better adapted for coatedsheet welding, has developed over the last few years.Sollac has developed and patented a lateral pressure laser butt-weldingtechnology coupled with a local heat control device, making it possible to obtaina welded joint of good quality.In parallel with the development of this technique, sollac completed itsknow-how on butt-welded blank stamping.
