Introduction to Special Issue on the 14th International Conference on Applied Geologic Remote Sensing

This issue of Natural Resources Research is composed papers from the 14th International Conference on Geologic Remote Sensing, a meeting held approximately every 18 months and considered to be the conference for presentations by researchers and practitioners of geologic applications of remote sensing. The conference was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on 68 November 2000. About 40 oral presentations and 140 interactive (poster) presentations were given at the conference, with 30 countries represented by presenters and authors.The conference primarily is sponsored by Veridian ERIM International (formerly Environmental Research Institute of Michigan), which also organizes and conducts the meeting. Other conference sponsors and supporters include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the EROS Data Center of the U.S. Geological Survey, ALTO Technology Resources, ITRES Research Ltd., Newmont Mining Corp., Radarsat International, and numerous cooperating geological and remote-sensing societies (including AAPG/EMD) and contributors.
