Peripheral retinal vascular leakage demonstrated by ultra-widefield fluorescein angiography in preeclampsia with HELLP syndrome

A 20 year old gravida 1, para 1, Hispanic woman presented 2 days after emergency caesarean section for preeclampsia and hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP) syndrome with decreased vision to 20/100 in the right eye and 20/200 in the left eye. Examination revealed bilateral bullous temporal serous retinal detachments involving the maculae (Figure 1A) and focal areas of peripheral retinal perivascular sheathing in both eyes. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography confirmed macular subretinal fluid and cystoid macular edema in both eyes (inset, Figure lA).
