High-definition spectral-domain optical coherence tomography of intravitreal and subretinal cysticercus cysts in intraocular cysticercosis.

We present high-definition spectral-domain optical coherence tomography findings in two cases of intraocular cysticercosis. A 28-year-old Asian Indian woman presented with complaints of floaters in her right eye. Fundus examination revealed vitreous membranes and vitritis++ with a suspicious "cystlike" lesion floating in the vitreous in the right eye. Ultrasound B-scan only showed the vitreous membranes. High-definition spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (Spcctralis; Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany) of the cystlike lesion revealed a round lesion with a highly reflective coat (Figure l), possibly the cyst wall surrounding a zone of hyporeflectivity in which there was a hyperreflective spot. This was found lying freely in the vitreous, unattached to the retina.
