A field experiment was conducted in Akola, Maharashtra, India, during the kharif of 2005-06 to study the effects of Rhizobium and Pseudomonas fluorescens inoculation on the performance of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea cultivars AK-159 and AK-303) under polyethylene mulch. The inoculation treatments had significant effects on yield and yield components. The application of 25 kg N/ha also increased the number of branches per plant, number of pods, pod dry weight per plant, number of seeds per pod, 100-seed weight and yield over the control treatment. The combined inoculation of Rhizobium + P. fluorescens was optimum for the improvement of grain yield parameters.
