The authors of the preceding contribution herein report an alternative approach for enhancing the properties of poly(urethane-carbonate) dispersions, this time combining UV-curing capability with the introduction of fluoro-functionality into the softsegment of the PU. The prepolymer was synthesised in an analogous manner to that described in the preceding article, except a hydroxyl-terminated perfluoroether (PFPE) was utilised as a component of the soft phase. As before the prepolymer was end-capped with HEMA prior to neutralisation with triethylamine, dispersion in water and the addition of a photoinitiator. A series of dispersions was prepared with varying PFPE contents from zero to 1 mol%.
