Old masters often carved their masterpieces from marble, applying hard physical labor, artistic vision, and divine inspiration to wrest from the merciless stone unbelievably lifelike figures frozen in time and space. Michelangelo, Bernini, and many others used these almost magical skills to show us the exquisitely detailed beauty of the human form in everyday postures and scenes. Occasionally on a routine day in the reading room, radiologists encounter the work of a modern-day Michelangelo. The above three-dimensional computed tomographic scan of a breast augmentation patient provides a chromatic view of a silicone implant overlying the chest wall.
