ON TESTING SCANNERS FOR DIGITIZING MINING GRAPHIC MATERIALS

The automation of mine surveying requires the representation of graphical data in a digital form. The problem is decided by using scanners with specific metric properties and errors. A new testing technique based on scanning and measuring the half-tone image by a precision control mesh is suggested for a detailed study of systematic errors and metric properties of the devices. Nonprofessional scanners are shown to be applicable for scanning survey maps.
