FCC Pilot CO_2-Capture Demonstration Underway in Brazil

The CO_2Capture Project (CCP) has started an oxy-combustioncapture trial on a pilot-scale Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC)with a processing rate of 33 barrels per day (b/d) of feed.Typical refinery FCC units can be among the highest CO2 -emitting units in such a plant. The CCP pilot test is expectedto bring closer a more cost-effective technology capable ofcapturing up to 95% of FCC CO2 emissions, potentially equat-ing to some 20-30% of emissions from a typical refinery.
