As noted in the author's preface, this textbook was written for medical students who are beginning their clinicalrotations. Intended to introduce beginning clinicians to technical information about the various imaging modalities, the initial 3 chapters of the book explain thebasic principles of diagnostic radiography, computed tomography (CT), nuclear imaging, magnetic resonance imaging and diagnostic ultrasound, as well as interventional and invasive radiologic procedures. The first chapter provides the essential principles of physics employed by the various imaging modalities. The entire second chapter is devoted to a discussion of the use of contrast agents in diagnostic imaging. In the third chapter, various invasive and interventional procedures are described, including everything from angioplasty and stent placement to abscess drainage and foreign body removal.
