The Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC), head-quartered in Wauconda, Illinois, conducted its first International Technology Exchange Tour in November 2002, sending six delegates to northern Italy. Portions of the tour were conducted together with the Aluminum Extruders Council (Figure 1), which was conducting a similar tour of its own (see story Light Metal Age, April 2003). The visit began with a welcome reception and dinner at the Hotel Vittoria in Brescia, attended by the combined group. The city of Brescia was selected to serve as the tour base due to its proximity to so many relevant plants and the rich heritage of metalworking in the region.
