Trade patterns for oilseeds and vegetable oils

This report will review the production, export and import markets for the major oilseeds and vegetable oils. Data are taken from the USDA/FAS report of April 2015 and refer to the 2014/ 15 harvest years. Table 1 shows figures for the production, exports and imports for seven major oilseeds and nine vegetable oils. 2014/15 saw a record production of oilseeds amounting to a 5% increase over the previous year (532 vs. 504 MMT). Although palm is the world's largest supplier of oil, soybeans are the biggest oilseed crop grown worldwide.
