Suit filed against fish farmers claiming damage to lobster by pesticide

Saint John, NB - The federal government and 13 fish farm operators and owners are the defendants in a civil suit filed by four lobster operations who claim to have lost more than 125,000 pounds of lobster in July. The suit claiming close to a half a million dollars, was filed at the Court of Queen's Bench in Saint John on October 16 but is not expected to go to trial until late next year. It was filed by lawyer Rod Gillis on behalf of Chase Lobster Pound Limited, JP Shellfish Inc., Island Marine Products Limited and Ferguson's Lobster Pound Limited.
