Plan for demand: forcasting and demand management are key to successful replenishment programs at TSN, Johnson & Johnson

Demand management integrates supply and demand in formation to optimize operations. Forecasting applications-which predict activity over weekly or other time horizons-remain central to demand management, but the discipline also involves areas such as collaborative replenishment, sales & operations planning processes, and integration with order and enterprise management systems. Within forecasting, a number of different algorithms and techniques may be used. Recent advances in forecasting have focused on gauging the impact of pricing and promotions, product introduction and obsolescence, intermittent demand, and product proliferation.
