In the following pages, the steps toward the set-up of a methodology for the prediction of resistance against oligocyclic fatigue are described. Applications of the local deformation method (that is particularly suitable for complex geometry with local plastic deformations) are illustrated. The description starts from a preliminary analysis of the complex geometry of the component under study, goes through its material characterization, and arrives as far as experimental testing for the simulation of different real-world cases aimed at studying the component behaviour.
