Seismic Concerns Halt Newbuild Project

The Yeongdeok County Office announced Monday it will halt all efforts related to the planned construction of the Cheonji nuclear power plant until the government conducts and completes a geological survey of the east coast site. Although it's unclear what that means in practice since the county apparently stopped cooperating over the project last year, it would appear to dampen Seoul's prospects for opening a fifth nuclear plant site.
