Growers can improve media with natural additives

Our industry is shifting as we speak. As a nursery owner/operator for more than 25 years, I can say that we share many of the same challenges. We are all grappling with terms like "sustainability," while trying to keep our feet planted firmly (in soilless media?) in what it takes to keep our growing operations profitable. Clearly, the three-legged sides of a sustainability triangle — economic, social and ecological — are equally essential to a business' survival. All three parts must be tended to with care, as all parts are interrelated. They represent a triple bottom line for growers. In looking at the triangle, one question often arises: Where does the idea of adding beneficial biology fit into our changing systems?
