摘要

The present study reports that FG-9307 cells derived from the gills of the olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus underwent neoplastic transformation spontaneously during the process of in vitro culture. Cells lost their density-dependent inhibition and contact inhibition properties, and they acquired genomic variation and the capacity of piling LIP in a focus and growing in semisolid agar. This is the first report of in vitro spontaneous neoplastic transformation of fish cell lines. The preneoplastically and neoplastically transformed FG cells provide a powerful tool to screen carcinogenic and anticancer agents in the aquatic environment.
