Ever since car manufacturers started offering vehicles with "Premium" sound systems, there has been an age-old dilemma. We all knew that these offerings were far from premium (sound-wise, not dollar-wise) and yet it's been difficult to improve them without removing the entire system and rebuilding it from the ground up. With the occasional integration of security systems, heat and air conditioning controls, plus the convenience of steering wheel controls, there's a lot of pressure to keep the OEM head unit as the basis for the system.
