Midstream Players Undertake Big Mergers in Major Oil & Gas Plays

Midstream companies were wheeling and dealing last week, creating ever larger ventures as the sector becomes more important to the growing US shale sector. This biggest deal involved Dallas-based Regency Energy Partners, which is acquiring PVR Partners in a transaction that will create a major natural gas gathering and processing company with assets spread across many of the top unconventional oil and gas plays in the US. The deal, valued at $5.6 billion, includes $1.8 billion in debt assumption and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014.
