President Obama remains committed to his controversial green energy agenda, bumping up funding for renewable energy in his budget proposal for fiscal 2013. The administration's budget request allocates $6.7 billion to advance clean energy technologies, a 13% increase over actual spending levels approved for 2012. The proposal also directs $2.33 billion in funding to the US Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), a 29% increase over 2012. Within the EERE, the proposal says that funding will increase by nearly 80% for "energy efficiency activities to improve the energy productivity and competitiveness of industries and business."
