Qatar Moves to Shore Up Chinese Sales of Up to 1.6 Bcf/d by 2013

Qatargas made a splash last week by inking memorandums of understanding to export up to 7 million tons per year, or about 1 billion cubic feet per day, of additional LNG to China starting in 2013. If firm sales follow, Qatargas will have committed to export 12 million tons per year (1.6 Bcf/d) to PetroChina and China National Offshore Oil Corp., potentially making China Qatargas' largest market.
