FERC Vision Bolstered; Nebraska Utilities Joining Ranks of the SPP

Three public power utilities in Nebraska have signed membership agreements with a regional transmission operator, bolstering federal regulators' efforts to facilitate more cooperation between independent power companies. Nebraska Public Power District, Lincoln Electric System and Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) each submitted membership applications to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to join the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), a regional transmission organization serving 50 members in eight states based in Little Rock, Arkansas.
