The huge Marcellus Shale play, which has sent shock waves throughout the North American gas industry, is about'to deliver another jolt at the start of the winter demand season. Marcellus output, which cruised past 15 billion cubic feet per day in July, is set to release another slug of supply on the market this fall. "Between now and 2017, more than 15 Bcf/d of new pipeline supply will be built to support the continued Appalachian Basin supply growth. This massive infrastructure build-out will alleviate current transport constraints and could potentially double production flowing out of this region," said BNP Paribas analyst Teri Viswanath. "With the first critical wave of the new pipelines coming on-stream in November and early December this year (or roughly a quarter of the planned transport), current stranded gas supplies will soon reach the market."
