'Golden Spike' Marks Completion Of an I-10 LNG Trucking Corridor

On May 10, 1869, the Transcontinental Railroad was completed with the hammering of a Golden Spike at Promontory Point, Utah, thus connecting the western and eastern US via a relatively new form of transportation. Last week's announcement of the opening of an LNG fueling station for heavy-duty trucks in El Paso, Texas, could be thought of as a "Golden Spike" for natural gas vehicles (NGVs). The El Paso station completes a chain of stations between Los Angeles, California and Houston, Texas, allowing heavy-duty trucks to travel the entire distance on LNG.
