Yamal LNG Brushes Off Sanctions

Russia’s top private natural gas producer Novatek has again denied speculation that its flagship Yamal LNG project might be delayed because of Western sanctions and the recent death of partner Total’s chairman Christophe de Margerie. Speaking at a meeting on Novatek’s third-quarter financial results, CFO Mark Gyetvay emphasized that sanctions have so far had little influence on the company’s operations and key projects. The impact has mainly been on the company’s financial stance as sanctions limit Novatek’s ability to arrange long-term financing.
