A competition between two competing mini-LNG terminal projects has accelerated in Estonia, which is eager to build up its own infrastructure and become an integral part in the natural gas market in northeastern Europe. Estonia’s ambition received an unexpected boost after a decision by Finland’s Gasum earlier this month to cancel its large terminal project for the Baltic region. The company said a regional terminal was no longer viable in an environment of falling gas prices and consumption, although it was committed to completing two mini-facilities under construction in Finland.
