This week quotations in the ports of ARA have gone up by $2/tonne on average.On October 25th a contract for delivery of 50,000 tonnes of coal was signed at$118.25/tonne DES. At the end of the week traders offered coal at $117-118/tonneDES ARA, though no deals were concluded. Next week prices in the ports of ARAmay go up due to decrease in coal shipments from Colombia (heavy rains preventtimely loading of coal on ships), while it's traditional for the European consumersto increase coal consumption with the approach of winter.Demand in the Australian spot market remains low - prices in the port ofNewcastle have gone down by $1/tonne WoW. Sporadic batches of 5500 kcal/kgcoal have been sold to China at $118-119/tonne CFR.
