摘要

Mungbean cv PUSA 9072 was treated with a chemical mutugen, Ethyl Methane Sulphonate (EMS) al different concentrations. Plants with desirable attributes were selected from M_3 families showing higher CV and mean values than the control families. Heritability was high for days to maturity, pod length and plant height. However, high estimates of GCV and genetic advance as percentage of mean obsened for seed yield / plant, pods / plant, clusters / plant, plant height and 100-seed weight suggested that these characters were controlled by additive gene effects and phenotypic selection for these characters is 1 ikely to be effective. Thus, the study revealed that mutagenesis is a potent tool for widening of the genetic base.
