8th Aluminium Casthouse Technology Conference & the Inaugural Light Metals Technology Conference

In a strong showing of Australia's strength in light metals and international linkages the 8th Aluminium Casthouse Technology conference and the inaugural Light Metals Technology conference were held over a week in September in Brisbane. International Aluminium Casthouse Technology (Sunday 14th - Thursday 18th) is held every two years in Australia and concentrates on smelter cast house technology including industry trends, furnaces, costs, direct chill continuous casting, melt refining, refractories, grain refinement, and ingot casting. The conference was initiated by Dr. Madhu Nilmani then of Melbourne University in 1990 and continues to be hosted by Melbourne University and managed by an industry committee.
