摘要

Remote Sensing and GIS was used to create Soil Information System of Agricultural Research Station, Kathalagere, Karnataka. Soil profiles were opened in all the 19 blocks and based on the morphological, physical and chemical analytical data, soils were classified and mapped as per USDA Soil Taxonomy. Soils were classified under Alfisols, Entisols and Inceptisols. Composite surface soil samples were also collected in all the blocks and soils were also collected in all the blocks and soils were analysed for major and micro nutrients viz., organic carbon, available phosphorus, available potassium, zinc, molybdenum, copper and iron in addition to soil pH and electrical conductivity. All the data was computerized using Auto Cad software and maps were generated using erdas imagine and Arc GIS softwares. Thus, both spatial and non spatial data was made in the same platform. This type of information serves as a base line data to take proper research activities in the research station.
