On the presence of Ramalina complanata (Ramalinaceae, lichenizedAscomycotina) and allied species in Argentina

Argentine specimens referred in the literature to as R complanata (Sw.) Ach. and R asperula do not belong to those species but to R aspera Rasanen. Two of the three chemical races known for R aspera were found in Argentina: the divaricatic acid race and the boninic acid race, the latter being reported for South America for the first time. R, subfraxinea Nyl., a tropical species closely related to R aspera, is also still unknown to Argentina. Main features to distinguish the mentioned taxa are the kind of thallus surface, pseudocyphellae, chondroid tissue and medullary substances.
