This paper reports on 4 new species, 1 new variety and 2 new records of Alternaria in China. The new species are: A. brevispora sp. nov., A. setariae sp. nov. (on Gramineae [Poaceae]), A. eleuthrines sp. nov. (on Iridaceae) and A. obpyriformis sp. nov. (on Liliaceae). The new variety is A. tenuissima var. alliicola and the new records for China were A. palandui and A. asphodeli (on Liliaceae). Latin diagnoses and illustrations of the new species are provided.
