The CA125 antigen level as a prognostic versus a predictive test in epithelial ovarian cancer

Advanced ovarian cancer has a very poor prognosis because of the extent of tumor at diagnosis and the poor efficacy of treatment once disease reaches this stage. Changes in serum CA125 levels during early chemotherapy are strong indicators of clinical outcome, but the value of absolute CA125 levels is debatable.
