The diffraction efficiency as a function of the externally applied voltage exhibits an unusual trend for a holographic grating written in a nanotube-doped liquid-crystal cell composed of two glass substrates with asymmetric patterns of filmy transparent indium-tin oxide. Experimental evidence suggests that output energy redistributes among multiple orders of diffraction at various dc biases.
