Duplex soils go under the radar

A new procedure to generate rapid and accurate maps of the depth to clay in duplex soils has been put to the test and the results are promising according to UWA researchers Michael Simeoni from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and Paul Galloway from the Department of Agriculture and Food, WA (DAFWA). Duplex soils are common in southern Australia and are the dominant soil in south-west Western Australia, occupying roughly 60 per cent of agricultural land in the region.
