For a car that shares its name with the awesome Evo IX, the insipid CH Lancer was a paradox. The foundation that the Evo's legend was built on - aggressive styling, mind-bending dynamics and red-hot squirt - was completely lost on its volume-selling sibling. Lancer sold well - with steady growth since 1997-but the car itself had no resonance with driving enthusiasts.
