Pity the poor aliens. Arriving some time after we've either burnt or blown ourselves off the face of the planet, they're going to have to reconstruct our existence from the evidence remaining. Luckily, most of that should be reasonably instructive. Our homes, despite their variance, will still accurately reveal our species' indifference to any change in weather, and the machines within them, from whizzers to scissors, will quickly inform the enquiring mind as to their function. They will learn of our diet from our food processing teclinologies, and from the dispersal, variety and subject matter of these, understand both our tribal diversity and limits of courage. And in almost every other matter of our existence, they'll be guided, accurately, by the evidence of our machines.
