Research says packaging influences the way fruits and vegetables are chosen by consumers. Michigan State University (MSU) recently published Influences of Packaging Attributes on Consumer Purchase Decisions for Fresh Produce. The study highlights theopportunities and benefits of innovations producerscan use to increase sales.According to a MSU researcher, "consumers believe the type of packaging material could affect the quality of the food product, and the rigid container may provide better protection compared to the flexible bag."
