Tobacco greenhouses will soon be pressed into action as another season of transplant production begins. But before you seed that first tray, make sure all of your greenhouse equipment is ready for the task. Also, think about ways in which you might be able to improve some aspects of your production system. "What we've learned over the last several years is that successful greenhouse production of transplants is really a matter of paying attention to the basics" says Bill Maksymowicz, extension tobacco specialist at the University of Kentucky's Princeton research center. "For starters, make sure that heating systems, ventilation equipment and air circulation fans are all in good working order."
