RETURN OF THE FISH HAWK

There was an air of excitement as we inched our way towards the osprey in our wooden fishing boat. The bird, bathed in glorious evening light, was perched inconspicuously among the mangroves in the vast Sine-Saloum Delta in Senegal. We could see thatit had a blue ring on its right leg, but we needed to get closer to read the inscription. We had to be careful - we knew that the bird would be nervous.
