Duty of Care Regulations Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001

FROM MAY 2002, scrap metal merchants were no longer able to escape requirements under the Duty of Care legislation, when Defra annulled the temporary easing of those regulations. The code of practice was first published in 1996, in accordance with section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, imposing a duty of care on persons concerned with controlled waste.
